Missouri Schools Benefit from Construction Manager at Risk Delivery Method
Thanks to Missouri State Statute 67.5050 enacted in August 2016, Missouri schools have more options to find the delivery method that fits their construction needs. The statute added construction manager at risk (CMAR), as well as design-build, to the list of authorized construction methods and it has been gaining popularity for school projects across the state ever since.
I recently read a blog about women in the construction industry and how they are making an impact (www.constructconnect.com/blog/the-state-of-women-in-the-construction-industry-in-2020). I really enjoy reading these kind of articles. In the almost 6 years I have worked in construction, I can definitely tell a difference in the numbers. When I first started, I was the only female in my position at the company I worked for as well as on the jobsite except for the final clean crew -- today working for Holland at the Whispering Heights project site we have women working in various trades. I also see women from my area of Illinois graduating high school and college and going into apprentice programs for operating engineers, electricians and ironworkers—it’s a great thing to see!
AIA Updates Construction Management Family of Contract Documents
Every ten years, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) updates its contract documents and 2019 marks the ten-year anniversary since the last revision of the Construction Management Contracts. This group includes both the Construction Manager as Constructor (CMc), more commonly known as Construction Management at Risk (CMr), and the Construction Manager as Advisor (CMa) agreements.
Before starting your construction project, making sure you are organized and prepared in advance can help everything go smoothly. Sorting out these components before construction begins is key to a successful project. Selecting a construction manager (CM) who is well-versed in the entire construction process - from concept to completion - to guide you each step of the way is critical to a successful project.
