Project Superintendents Steve Rapp and Dennis Frerker and Project Engineer Matt Costello recently received certification from the American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE). They join four other Holland team members, Project Managers Dan Sternau, Mike Deihl and Ryan Savage, and Senior Estimator, Paul Gansauer, as ASHE certified.

Performing construction work in a healthcare facility differs from other environments because projects are carried out in or near patient care areas. The ASHE certification program was developed for constructors to gain an understanding of the healthcare setting. Participants in the program learn best practices on the planning, design, construction and renovation of health care facilities. The program also addresses the latest compliance issues in health care construction and provides information on what owners, staff, and patients expect of constructors working in the health care environment.

“Having this certification enables our team members to work effectively in a healthcare environment,” said Mike Marchal, President of Holland Construction Services.

Holland has built a strong reputation in the healthcare market completing over 50 projects throughout southern Illinois and the St. Louis metro area, including projects for Memorial Hospital, HSHS’ St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation, BJC HealthCare, and SSM Health, as well as many oncology care providers and medical office buildings for physician’s groups.
