Breaking ground: CAVC’s new vocational facility to open new opportunities – Illinois Business Journal
On March 25, 2025, the Collinsville Area Vocational Center (CAVC) commenced construction on a $25 million expansion and renovation project aimed at enhancing career and technical education for students from ten area high schools. The new facility, situated across from the existing CAVC building, will introduce programs in HVAC/R, aviation mechanics, avionics, and EMT, with plans to increase annual student capacity from 575 to 900. The project is backed by state funding and support from local businesses and unions, including Trane, McKay NAPA Auto Parts, Anderson Hospital, and Holland Construction. Completion is anticipated by April 2026, with the goal of providing state-of-the-art training spaces and strengthening the regional workforce.
