A Better Way – Project Case Study
Faith Church
Background
Holland completed the redevelopment of a former movie theater into a 32,800 SF, purpose-built worship facility designed to support Faith Church’s growing congregation and expanding ministry programs in Fairview Heights, Illinois. The adaptive reuse project transformed an existing movie theater into a modern, welcoming church campus that balances functionality, flexibility, and long-term stewardship.
The renovated facility includes a 6,000-square-foot worship auditorium with integrated audio/visual and lighting systems to enhance the worship experience. Supporting spaces include a 2,600-square-foot children’s ministry area, multiple preschool classrooms, administrative offices, lobby and gathering areas, elevators, restrooms, and dedicated storage spaces. The layout was intentionally designed to support both large worship gatherings and smaller ministry activities throughout the week.
Careful attention was given to circulation, accessibility, and life-safety upgrades to ensure a safe, intuitive experience for congregants and visitors. Durable materials and efficient building systems were incorporated to improve operational performance while respecting the existing structure. The completed project revitalizes a former entertainment venue into a vibrant community-focused campus, providing Faith Church with a flexible, inspiring space to support worship, fellowship, and continued growth.
