SAFETY MISSION

Holland Construction Services is committed to providing the safest possible working environment for everyone involved in every project.   The HCS company-specific safety program consists of several facets to ensure that all our company and site employees are an active participant in building a functional and successful ‘safety culture’. 

HCS works directly with the Southern Illinois Builders Association (SIBA) safety trainers to certify HCS project superintendents are competent in general Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements, fall protection, first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), scaffolding, excavation and other personal training courses.  All of our superintendents hold an OSHA 30-hour certification card, and they continue to attend refresher training courses as necessary. The superintendent provides the first line of safety inspection on the jobsite; therefore we feel that substantial safety training for them is critical. 

At HCS, we feel that compliance to the highest safety standards benefits employees, management, subcontractors, and owners alike.  To ensure these standards are met, HCS has employed  a full time Safety & Health Director.  Doug Devlin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health from an American Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET)-accredited program and is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST), and a previous Specialized Government Employee (SGE) ensuring HCS works in unison and partnership with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). 

Holland Construction Services, Inc. has worked with OSHA in Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) and will continue to seek out future projects to further our collaborative relationship.

Holland Construction Services continues to set the goal to be at the forefront of maintaining a culture with the highest levels of safety within the construction industry.  HCS has been awarded multiple safety-related designations over the past five years by both Bituminous Insurance and the American General Contractors (AGC).  Our jobsites require 100 percent hardhat use; incorporate a six-foot fall protection rule, require proper attire, ensure pre-construction safety meetings with foremen, new-hire orientations, and an overall exceeded level of safety participation.  

HCS will continue to support, enforce and incorporate safety and awareness into all of our projects. HCS feels that we must ensure clients know safety and health standards are being met above and beyond OSHA standards and will continue to be a primary focus incorporated into finishing a successful project.
