Holland Construction Services Renovating High School Athletic Complex

PITTSBURGH, ILL. – Holland Construction Service began work just after football season ended on the $5.3 million Johnston City High School sports complex, a focal point of the surrounding community.

Set for completion in late summer of 2012, in time for the start of the 2012 football season, the project involves razing of the existing high school football and softball fields, weight room and concessions, and the construction of a new concession stand and locker room building, press box, ticket booths, a synthetic surface running track, new home grandstands at the football field, new softball field and an artificial turf football field.

Jack Bambrick, superintendent of schools for Johnston City Community Unit School District #1, said the athletic complex will provide among other things, an environment where students, staff and community members can promote healthier lifestyles with the addition of the all-weather track.

“The football and softball fields will also provide venues for a variety of educational and athletic programs showcasing the community’s pride,” he said. “In addition, it will serve as a destination point for hosting events that entice and attract people to Johnston City, which in turn has the ability to impact the local economy.” Bambrick further commented that Holland Construction has been a great intermediary between all contractors and the district.

“There are details and issues everyday during a construction project that must be addressed quickly and aggressively by someone with knowledge of the overall project,” he said. “We can count on Holland’s site superintendent and the project manager to investigate and quickly respond to any concerns.”
