Holland Construction Services Completes New Schnucks Store
WATERLOO, IL - Waterloo Commons is the site of a brand-new Schnucks store and retail center, completed by Holland Construction Services, Inc. on an aggressive schedule.
The grand opening was held in late January, formally opening the doors of the $7.9 million, 58,000-square-foot Schnucks store.
The project utilized concrete-tilt-up panels and masonry construction, resulting in a store that nearly doubles the size of the former Schnucks, which it replaced. Added customer conveniences include a large drive-through pharmacy, delicatessen, salad bar and other expanded services.
"Working with Holland Construction was a very positive experience," said Franklin Sears, representative for owner and developer The Desco Group. "The company assisted us in achieving a very successful development project."
In addition to the anchor Schnucks store, Waterloo Commons offers 9,000 square feet of retail space, also completed by Holland. With spaces now fully leased, Schnucks' neighboring retailers include Harrison Telephone Communications (HTC), Lily's Nail Spa, Custom Cuts and Wilson's Corner Grill and Pub.
Due to The Desco Group's total satisfaction with the construction team for the Waterloo project, the developer also chose Holland to perform site work and build a 63,000-square-foot grocery store in Evansville, Ind., currently under construction.
"Holland totally surpassed our expectations and we plan to work with them on more projects in the future," Sears said.
Based in St. Louis, Schnuck Markets, Inc. opened its first store in St. Louis in 1939. It now operates more than 100 stores in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Mississippi and Iowa.
