Holland Construction Building O'Fallon School District #90 Junior High School

July 24, 2007

O'FALLON, IL - O'Fallon School District #90 in O'Fallon, Ill. is expanding its available space for grades six, seven and eight as Holland Construction Services constructs the district's new junior high school on 42 acres along Seven Hills Road.

The $26 million Amelia V. Carriel Junior High School will alleviate overcrowding due to continued expansion in the Southwestern Illinois area. The 145,000 square-foot new school, in conjunction with the existing junior high, is projected to accommodate growth of the student population for the next several years.

The new school will feature a gymnasium, a cafetorium, providing cafeteria space as well as a stage for performances and other gatherings, 40 teaching areas, including spaces for chorus and band and a library/media center, which will house the computer lab. Outdoors, the site features a courtyard, a baseball field, a softball field and a soccer field surrounded by a running track.

"We chose Holland for this important project because of the company's reputation as a business that treats its clients fairly and does a very good job," said District #90 Superintendent Dr. Nancy Gibson. "We've been very pleased."

Gibson said the current junior high school is at capacity, and both the new school and the existing junior high will each house about 650 students and allow space to accommodate about 900 at each location to support expected future growth.

FGM Architects Planners, Inc. provided architectural services on the project.
