March 23, 2006 COLUMBIA, IL - The Monroe County YMCA - HTC Center, recently completed by Holland Construction Services (HCS), is providing an array of recreational features to the surrounding community. The $6.7 million, 39,613-square-foot facility is the first of its kind in the Columbia area, offering an indoor aquatic center, fitness and strength training facilities, aerobics room, gymnasium and indoor walking and jogging track. Approximately five acres of land outside is being developed for use as athletic fields. "I had the opportunity to be very involved with the project, and Holland Construction provided excellent workmanship and professionalism throughout the process," said Steve Ira, president and chief executive officer of YMCA of Southwestern Illinois. "It was a pleasure working with them." Memberships were pre-sold before the completion of the building, and represent 2,400 units. Fairview Heights-based EWR Associates, Inc. was the architectural firm on the project. HCS has constructed four YMCA facilities in the St. Louis Metro area. HCS has been providing quality construction throughout Missouri and Illinois since 1986, when it was founded by Bruce Holland. The company offers design/build, general contracting and construction management services to commercial, retail, healthcare, senior living, light industrial and educational clients. The St. Louis Business Journal ranks the firm one of the "Top 20 Contractors" in the St. Louis area. HCS is based in Swansea, IL, with a second office in St. Louis.
