Holland Construction Services Begins Work on Memorial & St. Elizabeth's Addition
SWANSEA, IL - Construction of a new 9,370-square-foot addition is under way by Holland Construction Services, Inc. to expand oncology services at the Memorial and St. Elizabeth's Health Care facility on Illinois Street in Swansea.
In addition, the $1.75 million project includes 5,500-square-foot existing building is undergoing renovations. Additional parking is also being added.
Susan Baker, executive director of Memorial and St. Elizabeth's Health Care Services, LLP, said the resulting 14,915 square feet of available space will encompass medical oncology, radiation oncology and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanner for diagnostic imaging all at one location, making it more convenient for patients.
"We will have the full range of treatment options," Baker said. "This will help to increase and improve our services."
Baker said that Holland Construction was chosen for the project for several reasons, including the company's excellent reputation.
"Holland is a well-known company and there was a strong desire to work with a local builder," Baker said. "The team is very attentive to detail and there's been very good communications; keeping me informed along the way. We've been very happy."
This represents the ninth St. Elizabeth's project that Holland has been involved in and the second with Memorial Hospital.
Hurford Architects of Glen Carbon provided architectural services for the project.
