Holland Construction Services Begins Addition to Christ United Methodist Church

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS - Construction is now under way on the new addition to Christ United Methodist Church on Frank Scott Parkway East. Holland Construction Services broke ground on the structure in May with a projected completion set for spring 2007.
The 24,000-square-foot, $5.5 million facility will include a new balcony and triangular-shaped sanctuary that will seat 1,100, substantially increasing the current 330-member capacity. A choir platform will be constructed in the front of the church, and a large fellowship lobby will greet members as they come in the door.
"Of course we chose Holland for the project due to the company's excellent reputation throughout the community," said Alan Prass, business administrator at Christ United Methodist. "The project is going very well and when complete, it will alleviate space problems due to the church's continued growth."
Prass said the church had outgrown its existing building, going from a membership of 250 just 10 years ago, to about 850 active members at present. Plans are also in the works for a three-story educational building with 28 classrooms to be added in two to three years, Prass added.
Gale A. Hill & Associates Inc. is the architectural firm for the project.
