Holland Construction Services Building Schnucks Store in Waterloo

WATERLOO, ILL - A brand new Schnucks store is under way in Waterloo. Holland Construction Services, Inc. is on a fast track schedule to complete the new facility by the end of November in Waterloo Commons.
The $7.9 million, 58,000-square-foot project is being built using concrete-tilt-up panels and masonry construction. The Schnucks store will nearly double the size of the existing store, which it is replacing. Customers will enjoy the convenience of a large drive-through pharmacy, delicatessen, salad bar and other expanded services.
"The new store will be a tremendous asset for the community with many high-end amenities and an attached retail center," said Franklin Sears, project manager for The Desco Group, owner and developer. "Holland Construction has made the entire project run very smoothly."
In addition to the Schnucks store, Waterloo Commons will include 9,000 square feet of retail space, also being built by Holland. Retailers slated for the center include HTC Cellular, Lily's Nail Spa, a UPS Store and Custom Cuts.
The Desco Group has been so satisfied with the Waterloo project, it has enlisted the same team to begin work soon on a 63,000-square-foot grocery store in Evansville, Ind.
Based in St. Louis, Schnuck Markets, Inc. opened its first store in St. Louis in 1939. It now operates more than 100 stores and in-store pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Mississippi and Iowa.
Architectural services for the Waterloo project were performed by Kuhlmann Design Group of St. Louis.
