Holland Construction and PMSG To Construct New VA Behavioral Medicine Building

MARION, ILL. - Holland Construction Services, Inc. and Project Management Solutions Group (PMSG) will begin work late this year on a new Behavioral Medicine Building for the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs on the grounds of the VA Medical Center in Marion.

The new 17,000-square-foot, freestanding building will offer four private and four semi-private rooms; a large day room; additional patient rooms for education and group therapy; a laundry area and 11 staff and administration offices. A central courtyard provides a light and airy open patio.

The interior will include high-end finishes like woodworking, ceramic tile flooring and walls and a decorative stone two-sided gas fireplace. Exterior will be brick veneer and EIFS, topped with a metal standing seam roof.

N.K. Bhandari, Consulting Engineers P.C. of Syracuse, N.Y. provided architectural services on the $5.7 million project.

Behavioral Medicine services at Marion include consultation, evaluation and treatment for a variety of issues that can impact emotional well-being.

The Marion VA Medical Center’s Health Care System serves nearly 44,000 veterans annually in Southern Illinois, Southwestern Indiana and Northwest Kentucky.
