Holland Construction Completes Renovations For New Rural King

SWANSEA, ILL. – The latest Rural King Inc. store opened earlier this month in a building newly refurbished by Holland Construction Services Inc. at 2801 N. Illinois Street in Swansea.  The 84,000-square-foot building was originally built by Holland Construction as a big-box Grandpa’s Store. It was later a Value City store, but has sat empty for a number of years, before the Olney, Ill.-based Jones family purchased the building to become the sixth in its Rural King store group, providing farm, home and auto products, including tools, power equipment, hardware, plumbing, electrical, sporting goods, clothing, lawn and garden, automotive, toys, heaters and air conditioners. A full-service repair shop is available for power equipment purchased at the store.

Renovations to the Swansea building included structural and roof repairs, painting and other cosmetic updates, addition of offices and public restrooms and parking lot resealing. The work brought the building back to local and state codes. The new store adds 40 to 50 jobs to the area.  Ryan Jones, a spokesperson for the Jones family, said Holland Construction’s team was exceptional to work with, instilling detail and attention into keeping the job going under bad weather conditions, with several different contractors and changes in the work detail - all within budget.

Rural King brings a diversified selection of products at competitive prices, along with a knowledgeable and friendly staff, there to help all of the store’s customers, Jones added.  In addition to the new Swansea facility, the Jones’ family group of Rural King stores are located in Olney (headquarters), Mount Carmel, Highland, Robinson and Salem. Jones’ grandfather, George Jones, acquired the first store in 1964.
