Holland Construction Beginning Work on New Ritchie Bros. Auction Facility

CASEYVILLE, ILL. - Holland Construction Services, Inc. is currently constructing a 13,557-square-foot building for Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers on Old Country Inn Drive in Caseyville.

The world’s largest industrial auctioneer (NYSE and TSX: RBA) will hold unreserved public auctions an average of four times a year in the new pre-engineered building, while the surrounding 58 acres will be filled with heavy equipment to be sold at the auctions. Ritchie Bros. sells used and unused equipment for the construction, transportation, agricultural, material handling, mining, forestry, petroleum and marine industries at unreserved auctions around the world.

The interior of the auction theater will feature telescoping bleachers where bidders can participate in the live auction as equipment is driven over the ramp in front of the seated crowd. Six large glass overhead doors allow bidders to sit in comfort during times of inclement weather; the equipment still rolls over the ramp, but the crowd is sheltered in the heated auction building. In addition, auctions in the Caseyville location will be integrated with the Company’s Virtual Ramp capabilities, allowing customers to bid on items that are stationary or even located off site, while viewing photos displayed on a large screen in the building.

“Holland Construction is a locally owned company with a very good reputation in the construction industry and in the community,” said Tim Kander, Ritchie Bros. Global Construction Manager. “Ritchie Bros. has very high standards when choosing a general contractor for our construction projects. We asked a select group of general contractors to bid on our new auction site project in the area. At the end of the day, we chose Holland based on a number of contributing factors, including price, perceived value, schedule, staff experience and the company’s reputation.

“When we move to a new community, we become part of the community right away,” he added. “That includes working with local companies, suppliers and vendors that work to the same high standards that we do. This project has gone well from the beginning and we have Holland to thank for that. We anticipate nothing but good things from Holland and their associates.”

The new auction facility will also include an entrance canopy, a large concourse, seven administrative offices and restrooms for client convenience.

“The employees at Ritchie Bros. are excited to be moving into our new auction site, and looking forward to holding world-class auctions there in 2010,” Kander said.
