Holland Construction Beginning Renovations On Elementary School in O’FallonO’FALLON, ILL. – Holland Construction Services, Inc. will begin Phase I renovations on Central Elementary School on Hartman Lane for Central School District #104 in O’Fallon in mid-March. The first phase is set for completion in June, allowing the summer months to prepare the newly renovated classrooms for the start of fall classes. Work on the 4,200-square-foot, $500,000 project, will primarily involve the conversion of two existing classrooms into new school administrative offices, and the renovation of four additional classrooms into two pre-Kindergarten rooms with appealing, suspended circular clouds constructed with acoustical grid system and acoustical ceiling tiles. “We chose Holland for this project because of the great experience we had when they built Joseph Arthur Middle School - ahead of schedule and under budget,” said District #104 Superintendent Steve Amizich. “Holland’s thorough and organized approach helps iron out the bumps in a very complicated project. Despite the difficulty of our project, we are off to a very smooth start. “The Holland team listens, they’re flexible, and work to make sure the job is done right while giving the best value for the dollar,” Amizich added. Phase II will begin June 1, slated for completion by the end of the year, entailing extensive interior renovation, enclosing open courtyard areas, structural steel framing, roofing, doors, hardware, renovating additional classrooms, restrooms, construction of a new art room, converting existing office area into a new library, new heating and air conditioning equipment, electrical fixtures and installation of a new sprinkler system. The project is about improved student safety and a more effective educational program, Amizich said. Program improvements include a safer and more educational friendly pre-Kindergarten environment, a new art facility for Kindergarten through fourth grade, better restroom facilities, “and if our budget allows for it, a new cafeteria and kitchen, and the transformation of the old cafeteria into an indoor physical education playground space.” Holland also built the Joseph Arthur Middle School on St. Ellen Mine Road for O’Fallon School District #104.
