Holland Construction Building Leed-Certified U.S. Bank in EdwardsvilleEDWARDSVILLE, ILL. – Construction of a new, environmentally friendly U.S. Bank in Edwardsville is currently under way by Holland Construction Services, Inc. at 1411 Lewis Road. Construction began in August on the 3,200-square-foot, brick and EIFS building, which will have five teller stations, a vault with safe deposit boxes, a sales and service manager, personal bankers as well as business, wealth management and home mortgage specialists. There will also be three drive-thru lanes and a drive-up automated teller machine with night drop. “U.S. Bank began as Edwardsville National Bank back in 1917, and we have a long history of being committed to this community,” said Brent Dudeck, U.S. Bank Edwardsville market president. “We are also very excited to be able to grow and invest in the future of Edwardsville.” The new full-service facility is slated for completion in early 2010 when staff from U.S. Bank’s 101 North Main Street office will relocate to the new facility “We are submitting our branch for LEED certification because we are incorporating recycled materials and utilizing renewable resources whenever possible during the building process, including the use of eco-friendly, low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) paint and carpet, energy efficient windows and lighting, and a metal rather than a shingled roof,” Dudeck said. “Our main goal is to create an environmentally friendly space with better lighting and air quality for customers and employees.” As members of the U.S. Green Building Council, Holland Construction provides guidance in certification in Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED). The program offers benchmarks for the design, construction and operation of green facilities, awarding a certified, silver, gold or platinum rating through a 69 possible-points system. Five environmental categories within the LEED program address issues of establishing sustainable sites through areas like site selection and storm water design; water efficiency; energy and atmosphere concerns such as utilizing renewable energy and other technology; use of reusable materials and resources; and indoor environmental quality factors like low emissions and use of natural light. “Holland Construction Services employs LEED-accredited professionals to assist in achieving the results that clients are looking for,” said Bruce Holland, president of HCS. “We are proud to be involved in this program that promotes the highest energy efficiency and environmental standards that can make a real difference.” “Holland Construction came in with a very competitive bid and exceeded our requirements to use a percentage of women and minority businesses to be awarded the Edwardsville project,” said Heather Olson of U.S. Bank Corporate Real Estate. “Holland has also maintained our project schedule despite some unexpected challenges on site and has performed with the utmost professionalism. They are a very capable general contractor and a great partner." U.S. Bank has 29 locations in Southern Illinois.
