Holland Construction Services Starts New Indiana Schnucks Store
NEWBURGH, IN. - Holland Construction Services Inc. has been involved with more than 22 Schnucks projects through the years, but for the first time, it has expanded to the state of Indiana with the construction of a new Schnucks store at Bell Oaks Center in Newburgh.
"The team worked so well on the recent Waterloo Schnucks and retail project, it seemed like an obvious choice to work with them on this one too," said Franklin Sears, representative for the Indiana Schnucks owner and developer The Desco Group. "The people at Holland are definitely team players and know their product better than most."
The $6.6 million Schnucks building utilizes concrete-tilt-up panels and masonry construction encompassing 63,692 square feet of space that will double the size of the Schnucks store that it is replacing. The new produce area will feature high bay, barrel vault trusses, while a drive-through pharmacy and an overall larger store will expand services. The project also involved restructuring of surrounding retail component for customer convenience.
"Working with Holland has been a very positive experience," Sears said. "They surpassed our expectations and we plan to continue working with them in the future."
The new Waterloo Schnucks store celebrated its grand opening in January. The surrounding Waterloo Commons retail component features Harrison Telephone Communications (HTC), Lily's Nail Spa, Custom Cuts and Wilson's Corner Grill and Pub.
Kuhlmann Design Group of St. Louis provided architectural services on both the Waterloo and Indiana projects.
Based in St. Louis, Schnuck Markets, Inc. opened its first store in St. Louis in 1939. It now operates more than 100 stores in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Mississippi and Iowa.
