Holland Construction Begins Addition to Four Paws Animal Hospital

Four Paws RenderingO’FALLON, ILL. – Holland Construction Services Inc. officially broke ground last week on the new addition to Four Paws Animal Hospital, increasing current space by nearly 6,000 square feet.

Dr. James W. Bollmeier, doctor of veterinary medicine at Four Paws, said the facility at 2006 W. Highway 50 in O’Fallon, Ill. desperately needed more room to operate.  The one-and one-half-story brick veneer addition will increase efficiencies by expanding the treatment area and increasing the number of exam rooms. A new surgical suite will accommodate expanding surgical services; the dental area is being revamped for root canal therapy procedures; a dedicated chemotherapy area will treat patients with cancer, and a rehabilitation area with underwater treadmill will help orthopedic patients. A special room will be added for end-of-life services.

“It requires a lot of square footage to house the equipment and staff needed to accommodate a full service veterinary hospital,” Bollmeier said. “We need dedicated rooms for specific needs like orthopedic surgery, administering chemotherapy, reading X-rays and ultrasounds, physical rehabilitation, conducting dental cleanings and emergency care.”

A phone room will offer staff a space dedicated only to answering the telephones, taking care of client’s questions and needs.

“People should expect the same care for their pets as they would get for themselves at their local hospital,” Bollmeier said. “The newly renovated and expanded facility will help us to more easily provide just that for our clients.

Holland Construction was chosen, Bollmeier said, due to the firm’s ability to get the project completed in a timely manner.

“Since choosing Holland, the project has moved forward at an accelerated pace, and we look forward to working with them throughout the process,” he added.

Bollmeier’s childhood home was the original veterinary office, now partially demolished. His father, James A. Bollmeier, DVM, opened Bollmeier Vet Clinic, which later became Four Paws, building the current office in 1992. Bollmeier’s mother, Ellen, doctor of dental medicine, has moved her dental office next door.

“My family has always enjoyed living in O’Fallon and looks forward to continuing to provide care on Highway 50,” he said. “It’s always been our home.”

The current Four Paws hospital will remain open and operational throughout the construction process, slated for completion in February. For more information on Four Paws Animal Hospital, visit the Web site at www.fourpaws-vet.com.
