Holland Construction Services Completes Addition to Christ United Methodist Church
FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS - Holland Construction Services, Inc. completed construction on the new addition to Christ United Methodist Church on Frank Scott Parkway East. The doors were open for services in the new sanctuary in December with official dedication in January.
Prompted by the church's continued growth and need for additional space, the new $5.5 million, 24,000-square-foot addition's triangular sanctuary and balcony seats about 1,100, which more than triples the church's former capacity.
A large choir platform is located in the front of the church, and a large fellowship lobby greets members as they enter the door.
Alan Prass, business administrator at Christ United Methodist, said the church had outgrown its existing building. The church's membership has grown over the last 10 years from about 250 members to more than 1,000. The new space allows the church to meet current needs, as well as expand worship services and programs. The church is now accommodating as many as 400 Sunday School attendants, compared to an average 250 previously.
"We chose Holland for the project due to the company's excellent reputation," said Prass. "The company was very responsive to any concerns and questions we had, and we're very happy with the completed structure."
Plans are also in the works for a three-story educational building with 28 classrooms in an additional 22,000 square feet to be added as soon as it's financially possible, Prass said.
"The church and need for space continues to grow," he said.
Gale A. Hill & Associates, Inc. provided architectural services for the new addition.
