Prairie State Generating Company - New Administration Building & Shop

Marissa, Il.

After completing a successful Corporate Office Building in 2011, PSGC again selected HCS to provide design / build services for this new facility. It consists of 20,000 sf for administrative offices, locker rooms and record storage, 10,000 sf for a shop area and a 2,150 sf mezzanine. The structure is a pre-engineered metal building. The project is scheduled for completion the first quarter of 2012.

New Facility for Mungenast Hyundai

Hazelwood, Mo.

The Mungenast Family of Dealerships continues to grow as does their solid relationship with Holland Construction Services. This is the third dealership that Holland has been involved in, starting with Toyota in 2007 and Lexus in 2009.
The new Hyundai Dealership will allow customers to choose from a variety of seating arrangements while waiting for service work and vehicle repairs including grouped soft seating offering an “at home” feel while watching television and enjoying a drink from the beverage bar. A power bar will provide Wi-Fi access and allow business people to charge cellular phones and laptops. The children’s room will be equipped with viewing windows off of the main waiting area so parents can watch as their children play with the toys or watch movies. Customers will be able to electronically research Hyundai models at the showroom information station. Meeting areas conveniently located around the showroom floor area will provide space for customers to talk with a salesperson in lieu of being taken into a small office. Those who purchase a vehicle will take delivery inside the building - out of inclement weather. Likewise, service customers will have an interior drop-off and pickup area away from the outside elements.
The building is constructed of masonry block, structural steel framework, glass & aluminum curtainwall, and metal panels. The 35,745 sf facility contains a Service Drive Thru, 17 Service Bays, a Car Wash and Showroon, Parts, and Office Areas. The site is 6.6 acres and contains a substantial underground detention system.

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville - Indoor Softball Facility

Edwardsville, Il.

The new indoor softball facility currently under construction by Holland Construction Services Inc. is a homerun for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s athletic department. The project, now in its early stages, will provide much needed practice space for the Cougars softball team out of inclement weather while helping to boost the department’s recruiting efforts. Located just west of the softball clubhouse, the 11,664-square-foot pre-engineered building is expected to be ready for use in January 2012. The indoor training center will include two batting cages and suspended nets, three practice mounds and a small field with synthetic turf.

Southwestern Illinois College - Liberal Arts Building Addition & Renovations

Belleville, Il.

Holland Construction Services has been selected as the Construction Manager as Agent for this 73,000 sf addition. The facility will be constructed of a 2 story structural steel skeleton with a masonry veneer, glass curtain wall and composite panel skin. The facility will house offices, classrooms, theater, student lounge and a student success center. The project is designed to attain a LEED Gold certification. Completion is scheduled for December 2012.

Swansea Plaza Repairs

Swansea, Il.

Holland Construction Services has been chosen by The DESCO Group to provide construction services necessary to remediate settlement due to mine subsidence at the Swansea Schnucks Shopping Center location. The project will consist of mud-jacking the floor slabs back into place, then reworking the damaged interiior finishes and the exterior facade, masonry and roofing systems. The project is anticipated to be complete by the end of the year.

High School Athletic Complex

Johnston City, Il.

Holland construction Services is providing Construction Management Services for the second phase of this contract. The project consists of a new football field w/ synthetic turf, a running track with high jump and long jump stations, a Locker Room / Concession Building and a softball field There is an expanded parking lot for the High School. A new weight room will also be added on to the existing School. The project will break ground in the fall and be completed during the summer of 2012.

Memorial Care Center Renovations

Belleville, Il.

Holland Construction Services was selected by the owner to provide pre-construction as well as construction services for this renovation. The project consists of a complete renovation of the interior spaces including entirely new interior finishes, HVAC systems and electrical upgrades. The exterior will be completely upgraded to provide a new facade, entrances, new landscaping and courtyard gardens. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2012.

New Classroom Addition and Remodeling for Lincoln Elementary School

Pittsburg, Il.

The new one-story brick veneer addition will consist of 5,333 square feet of new space, adding three classrooms, a media center/library and computer lab plus additional restroom facilities.

Renovations will take place in 1,600 square feet of the existing building, including electrical upgrades, a new walk-out kitchen freezer with a canopy, office remodeling and upgrading of the outside bus drive-up lane.

Project completion is scheduled for August 2011.

Parkway Lakeside Apartments

O'Fallon, Il.

This 232-unit upscale apartment complex includes twenty two-story garden-style buildings offering one- and two-bedroom units designed to feel like single-family residences.

The $29 million project will feature Type I and Type II apartment homes. Type I will include in-building garage parking, with additional surface parking available for all units. Buildings will include private at-grade entries, architectural shingles and trim, stone wainscot and chimneys, and 100 percent enclosed stairways.

All units will feature home-like finishes like granite countertops and stainless steel kitchen appliances; large walk-in closets, full-sized washer and dryer and a private balcony. Nine-foot ceilings add to the spacious interior feel. Some units include garden bathtubs and electric fireplaces. This project is scheduled to be complete in fall of 2011.

Okawville K-12 School

Okawville, Il.

This $29 million project encompasses 166,000 square feet consisting of new construction built around the existing gymnasium while the school remains operational. The new facility will be built on two levels with a Kindergarten through sixth grade wing and a seventh- through 12th-grade wing.

Construction will be completed in two phases. The first phase includes the upper grade wing, cafeteria, multi-purpose area, a new gymnasium for the upper grades and offices. High school areas consist of 12 classrooms, a band room, computer lab and a stand-alone agricultural building for shop classes. Junior high areas will have five classrooms, art and music rooms and a computer lab. Phase 1 move-in is slated for December 2011.

Phase 2 begins with demolition of the existing school and construction of the Kindergarten through sixth wing beginning in January 2012 with 18 classrooms, art and music rooms, computer lab and a new library that will be shared with the community.

New Life in Christ Church - Charles and Dianne Rayford Center

O'Fallon, Il.

An expansion project for New Life in Christ Interdenominational Church in O’Fallon, Ill., will provide much needed space as the congregation continues to grow.

The $3 million, 8,500-square-foot pre-engineered building will have a standing seam roof, stained concrete floors, and an exposed steel ceiling with several skylights that allow the outdoor light to flood through the space. A reflecting pool with two fountains will provide a peaceful focal point.

The new facility will provide a center for the rapidly growing youth ministry, and space for it to grow even more. It will house their worship, computer and coffee café, movie theatre, counseling and community building.

Phase II of the proposed expansion is planned to include a 17,645-square-foot auditorium and sanctuary that will accommodate approximately 1,000 seats.

Pinckneyville High School

Pinckneyville, Il.

The new 54,000-square-foot structure will ultimately replace the two existing buildings currently housing 470 students in pre-kindergarten and grades 9 through 12, while incorporating and renovating the existing gymnasium that will feature a newly installed heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system.

The new building will provide space for 500 students and offer state-of-the-art program space including science rooms with a lab and preparation room, art classrooms with a darkroom, home economics and food lab, computer and tech labs, pre-kindergarten classroom, media center, girl’s gymnasium and locker rooms, general education classrooms, special education classrooms with office, restrooms and administrative and guidance offices for the high school and district.

In addition, the building will feature a nurse’s office, teacher’s workroom, storage and mechanical rooms, an elevator and a cafeteria, kitchen and cafetorium with moveable stage that will replace the small existing cafeteria that holds only 42 people. The new cafetorium will help bring people together for meals and other events, serving the school population as well as the community.

One of the biggest challenges will be construction of the new high school while keeping the existing school operational. Once the new high school is complete, a second challenge will involve demolition of the existing school in a fairly condensed space. Once the old school is torn down, it will make way for a new parking area.

Flora Community Unit School District #35 - Pre-K to 5 School Building

Flora, Il.

Currently, Holland is providing pre-construction services on the proposed new school which recently passed their referendum in November. The facility is planned to be constructed of masonry with a sloped roof, and include a gymnasium and separate cafeteria area with two courtyards.

Wesclin High School

Trenton, Il.

Holland Construction Services, Inc. has been chosen as construction manager and is now providing pre-construction services on the proposed new Wesclin High School, which recently passed referendum on Nov. 2.

The new school will replace buildings currently leased by Wesclin Community School District #3, in addition to the outgrown space of the original high school and classrooms used in other district buildings.

A new school would allow for the expansion of additional high school courses and provide added curriculum opportunities to enhance the educational experience. The existing high school and rooms used at other educational facilities could be utilized for lower grades, also allowing for curriculum expansion and additional classrooms at those levels.

In addition, plans for the new high school would include athletic facilities to allow games to be held on campus.

Southwest Illinois Health Ventures, Inc. - Medical Building Three

Belleville, Illinois

Holland Construction Services was selected to construct Medical Building Three, the first free-standing medical facility on the Memorial Hospital Campus.

The 3-story steel structure with brick veneer and curtain wall entry will encompass 85,000 sq.ft., offering an orthopedic and neurosciences center housing physician practices specializing in orthopedics, neurosurgery, sports medicine and pain management. It will also accommodate Memorial’s outpatient physical, occupational, hand and speech therapy services and open MRI.

Other construction elements include coal mine remediation, Geopier ground improvement system, hydrotherapy, x-ray, CT, MRI, medical gas and nurse call systems.

This project is scheduled for completion in November 2011.

Creal Springs Elementary School

Creal Springs, Il.

This new pre-K – 8th grade school will consist of a 67,000 sq.ft. structure containing administrative services, gymnasium, cafeteria and educational spaces. The 17 acre site will feature green space, two baseball fields, parking and playground area.
